Announced last June, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader already has some arguments to seduce! The first comes from the studio Owlcat Gameswhich distinguished itself with the two excellent Pathfinder: Kingmaker and Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. It must also be said that free-traders are a theme particularly little exploited from the grimdark universe, with many possibilities.
And precisely, Owlcat seems to want to exploit this diversity with a multitude of varied companions ! The official website details them all, but you can already find the list below:
- Cassia Orselio, navigator
- Pasqal Haneumann, magos explorer
- Abelard, seneschal
- Idira Tlass, psyker not really sworn
- A space wolf and an Sister of Battle have also been seen in previous trailers, but not yet officially shown. Probably soon!
All this merry coterie will help the player to travel the galaxy and face threats, which promise to be numerous. The aeldari and their dark cousins drukhari will be part of the lot – we should also note that Owlcat has created an original craft-world for the occasion.
demons of Tzeentch and Slaanesh will also be there, to represent all the horror that the Warp has to offer. From there, it is also not delusional to imagine that we will face hereticsand maybe we can even thwart some plots!
Last but not least, we will be helped by skitarii. These powerful cybernetic warriors created by the Adeptus Mechanicus are equipped with a vast array of weapons, and will probably have a connection with the magos Haneumann. Since our wanderings will take us into the dangerous Segmentum Obscurusa little extra firepower will be welcome.
Owlcat also clarified that we will be able to choose a starting career from three options: commissioner, ex-criminal and naval officer. The first two hardly offer a transition to the atavistic career of free trader (let us recall the importance of dynasties !), but in real life, why!
For now, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader does not yet have a precise release date, except for a vague window in 2023. However, an alpha was announced for this end of the year, which should offer us some gameplay soon; and if you want to know more about the game, don’t hesitate to check out the video below or our article on the genesis of the game!
