How to address the challenge of labor shortage affecting the economy?

“First of all, solve the crisis of the lack of places in daycare which prevents women from returning to work, by creating micro-CPEs and consolidating the network of daycare services. Second, setting an immigration threshold with the expert∙e∙sand regionalize the reception and integration of immigrants. Third, improve working conditions, such as increasing vacation time to 4 weeks and family-related leave to 10 days. Along the same lines, raise the minimum wage to $18/h. These proposals from Québec solidaire are structuring and sustainable solutions to face this challenge facing Québec in the short, medium and long term..”

Which option do you prefer to promote mobility in the region?

“TheMobility is a right that everyone should be able to exercise. To do this, we must look beyond solo driving, which favors some people, which is an ecological disaster and a dead end for young people, the elderly and people with reduced mobility. In the context of the climate emergency and the aging of the population, we must therefore abandon the projects of the past century, such as the 3rd link, and put public and active transport projects back on track. This is to allow all residentsof Quebec to get around, to preserve our quality of life and our environment.”

What is your local priority for your constituency?

“Dofacing the climate emergency is my #1 priority. We must fight today against global warming and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55%, with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. In Montmorency, I pledge to give back to people access to the river, by transforming the Dufferin-Montmorency highway into an urban boulevard and by extending Promenade Samuel-de-Champlain into a linear walkway to Parc-de-la-Chute Montmorency. Fighting the climate crisis also means giving yourself a better quality of life.”

How to address the challenge of labor shortage affecting the economy?

“ThePLQ plans to offer financial incentives to experienced workers, by increasing the basic tax exemption for workers aged 65 and over from $15,000 to $30,000 and by ending contributions to the Quebec Pension Plan (QPP ) workers aged 62 and over, with no impact on the pensions they will receive on retirement. Another real solution would be to quickly fill vacancies by recruiting qualified workers abroad and accelerating the recruitment of foreign students. Lots of bright people would be happy to have a career with us.”

Which option do you prefer to promote mobility in the region?

“Lhe PLQ is committed to improving traffic flow at bridges and facilitating access to public transit by offering free admission to students and seniors as well as free Québec-Lévis crossing for all. We want to restore the tramway section to Charlesbourg to adequately serve the northern crown and subsequently, annex the tramway with the sectors of Lebourgneuf, the airport and Lévis. The completion of Phase 4 of Promenade Samuel-De Champlain towards Beauport is close to my heart. Finally, the PLQ will work with the municipalities to create a regional transport agencys.”

What is your local priority for your constituency?

“IAbove all, I will be the voice of the citizens of Montmorency in Quebec in order to meet their needs. I would like more access to child care, because I value early childhood education very much. The economic development and enhancement of the Parc de la Chute Montmorency sector is close to my heart. In addition, I would like to help increase access to affordable housing and promote the establishment of a vocational training school in Montmorency. I also undertake to donate half of my salary as an MP to local micro-enterprises seeking funding. This will launch businesses and create jobs.”

“Theshortage of labor represents a challenge for the growth of the economy. The greater Quebec City region is no exception, as the region is at the bottom of a cycle where there are more people leaving the labor market than those entering it. That being said, the regional economy remains robust and maintains its record level of nearly $40 billion annually with optimistic growth prospects. Welcoming more foreign students, increasing the requalification offer and bringing clients who are far from the labor market closer.”

Which option do you prefer to promote mobility in the region?
