[PHOTOS] 3rd alarm in the Saint-Sauveur district

The Quebec Fire Protection Service responded last night to a fire that broke out in a two-story commercial and residential building at 320 rue du Saint-Luc in the Saint-Sauveur district.

The call was made around 3:27 a.m. According to several witnesses who also alerted the firefighters, flames were visible behind the convenience store and there was a risk of spreading to the building.

The 9-1-1 dispatcher called for evacuation and to wait for emergency services who were on the way. The first firefighters on the scene confirmed an erupting and progressing fire on the coating at the rear of the building.

Considering the risks of propagation, three alarms were gradually requested by the chief in order to send additional personnel there. Hydro-Quebec carried out the power interruption.

About fifty firefighters worked on extinguishing and propagation verification operations. The SPVQ patrol officers ensured the bypass of traffic during firefighting operations.

No one was injured during the operation. The Red Cross took care of four victims. An RTC bus was on site for the evacuees.

At 4:39 a.m., the chief announced that aggravation was unlikely. The Fire Department went to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

The situation was under control at 5:15 a.m.
