About the Author
Jane Austen was born on December 16, 1775 in Steventon, Hampshire, into a family of English high society. Her writings betray very early, from 1787, a caustic spirit towards the society in which she lived. From 1811 to 1816, with the publication of Sense and Sensibility (1811), Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814) and Emma (1816), she enjoyed success. Jane would not stop writing until her untimely death from illness in 1817 in Winchester. Most of his works were published posthumously.
